As the sun slowly rises casting the early morning golden rays across the farmers market, tents are going up and the sound of voices and laughter can be heard as each of the vendors prepares for the day. As I set up our booth and the product displays, it is always fun to watch the day slowly awaken!

Niobrara Farms Bath and Body Farmers Market

At 8:00 the market bell rings, and it’s open for business! And the busyness begins.

One of my favorite parts of market is all the interactions with customers/friends who come by. Talking about the weather, their children, vacations, or whatever else is happening in their lives at the moment. Answering questions and sharing about the health benefits of each natural product that we handcraft and sell. Exchanging smiles and waves with children who go by (and enjoying the faces they make when smelling different soaps.)

All of this and more always make Saturdays at the market much enjoyed!

Unscented Goat Milk Soap Farmers Market

Our Unscented Goat Milk Soap at the Market. A popular choice with those with sensitive skin.

Customers often ask which of the 17 different soap varieties are most popular. That can sometimes be a harder question to answer as it is often changing! One week it might be Lemongrass, another, Rosemary Lime. This past Saturday, Peppermint Tea Tree was the most sought after soap variety. The addition of 100% pure Tea Tree Essential Oil, which has strong antibacterial and antiseptic properties, makes this bar a customer favorite, especially for a facial soap.

Natural Skin Care Farmers Market

As the sun rises and the hours go by, the crowds increase and the hum of voices fills the air, intermingled with music from the weekly musicians playing down on the West end. There are often families gathered around the music tent, some sitting on the grass or at picnic tables enjoying hot prepared food or ice cold lemonade from the market vendors.

The Columbia Farmers Market is much more than just a place to shop local for healthy, natural foods and products. It is a place to experience . . . to enjoy, visit, relax, and share.

Come out and join the fun Saturdays 8-Noon. Stock up on fresh vegetables, grass-fed beef, cheese and more from other vendors, and of course, goat milk soap and our other skin care products!

*Our September market schedule: we’ll be there the 9th, 23rd, and 30th. See you there!

What a wonderful looking market! That seems to be a really good size. Just big enough to get to know the regulars, but not so big that it becomes more of a theme-park than a farmers market.
I wish we could come out and visit you there!
Farmer’s market is always a bit of a challenge for me. (I’m on the introverted end of the scale.) But my husband just loves talking with all the people and handing out all his hand grown veggies.

If we’re ever coming through Missouri in the summer, we’ll have to stop by!
    God bless,
    Christina

It is a wonderful market, Christina! I am thankful to be a part of it. And yes, it is a great size. It sounds like you and your husband make a great team with the farmers market with your different personalities!

If you ever do come through Missouri, it would be wonderful if you stopped by! (Our market runs from March through November outdoors and then is indoors all through the Winter.)

I hope your gardens and market are going well for you!
